Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Test Switch ("we", "us") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal data when you use our driving test slot notification service.
1. Who we are
Test Switch is an independent UK service that manually checks for possible earlier DVSA test slots and sends alerts via Telegram. We are not part of the DVSA or any government department.
2. Data we collect
- Identity & contact: name, email address, Telegram username/handle.
- Preferences: city, chosen test centres, date range (Premium) or all available dates (3-day free trial), service plan.
- DVSA-related details (optional): driving licence number, DVSA booking reference or theory pass certificate — used only to validate an active booking and operate alerts.
- Payment: payment status and transaction references via our payment provider (we do not store full card numbers).
- Technical: IP address, browser type, and usage logs for security and service operation.
- Alerts: record that a Telegram notification was sent (time, centre, slot details) for support and refund eligibility.
3. How we use your data
- Provide the notification service (manual checking and Telegram alerts).
- Validate that you have an active DVSA booking where you supply licence/reference details.
- Process payments and manage your subscription period.
- Respond to support requests and handle refund requests.
- Improve our service and prevent fraud or abuse.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your data to log into DVSA on your behalf, book tests, or perform any automated booking-management action.
4. Legal basis (UK GDPR)
- Contract — processing necessary to deliver the Service you purchased.
- Legitimate interests — fraud prevention, security, and improving the service.
- Consent — where required for non-essential communications.
- Legal obligation — where we must retain records for tax or regulatory purposes.
5. Sharing your data
We share data only with trusted processors who help us run the Service, such as:
- Payment provider (e.g. Paddle) for checkout and refunds
- Hosting and database providers
- Telegram (messages are delivered through Telegram's platform — see Telegram's privacy policy)
We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights.
6. Retention
We keep your data while your subscription is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for support, accounting, and legal compliance (typically up to six years for financial records where required).
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, object, and data portability. Contact us via your dashboard or Telegram support. You may complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No online service is 100% secure; please use a strong password for your dashboard and protect your Telegram account.
9. International transfers
Where processors are outside the UK, we ensure appropriate safeguards (e.g. UK adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses).
10. Cookies
Our website may use essential cookies for session and security. We do not use invasive advertising trackers on core service pages.
11. Children
The Service is for learner drivers who are at least 17. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
12. Changes
We may update this policy; the "last updated" date will change. Material changes will be posted on this page.
13. Contact
